THE SSI ESTABLISHES THE SPECIAL PRIZE “MARCO OTTALEVI”

È con immensa gratitudine che abbiamo il piacere di riportare quanto comunicatoci dal Consiglio direttivo SSI, il quale ha deliberato l’istituzione di un premio speciale da assegnare alla foto vincitrice del premio “Sentinella miglior foto SFC22” intitolato alla memoria di Marco Ottalevi.

Inutile dire che sentire il nome di Marco è sempre un tuffo al cuore, un amico che ha dato un contributo fondamentale alla nascita di SFC, ma anche un ottimo speleologo che aveva a cuore l’insegnamento ai giovani e la condivisione della passione per il mondo sotterraneo, e che negli ultimi anni si era messo a disposizione collaborando attivamente con la SSI. Il suo essere “trasversale” lo portava a superare le naturali divisioni che si creano tra i gruppi riuscendo a coinvolgere tutti senza distinzioni.

Il premio sarà un buono acquisto da 200€ da spendere presso una delle attività che sponsorizzano SFC ma al di là del valore economico resta il grande valore simbolico ed affettivo che questo premio riveste. Alla Società Speleologica Italiana va il rinnovato ringraziamento di SFC per il supporto che ci riconosce.

With immense gratitude, we are pleased to announce that the SSI Board of Directors has decided to establish a special prize to be awarded to the winning photo of the “Sentinel best photo SFC22” award dedicated to the memory of Marco Ottalevi.

Needless to say, hearing Marco’s name is always a plunge in the heart. A friend who gave a fundamental contribution to the birth of SFC, but also an excellent speleologist who had at heart the teaching of young people and the sharing of the passion for the underground world and who in recent years had made himself available by actively collaborating with SSI.

His being “transversal” led him to overcome the natural divisions that are created between groups, managing to involve everyone without distinction. Explorations but also projects and especially courses where communication skills and the ability to “teach” are fundamental, transmitting at the same time the passion for caving, all skills and qualities that Marco undoubtedly had.

The prize will be a 200€ voucher to spend in one of the activities that sponsor SFC but beyond the economic value there is the great symbolic and affective value that this prize has. To the Italian Speleological Society goes the renewed thanks of SFC for the support that recognizes us.
