Our Jury President, Tullio Bernabei, has selected a team of internationally renowned experts who will judge the submitted works.
ποΈ Andrea Moretti
A professional photographer and speleologist for about twenty years. His work has always focused on people, their faces, and their work. Recently, he has been exploring the contrast between light and shadow in the underground world, capturing the darkness and the illuminated portions of caves created by his fellow explorers. He supports photography that represents reality as we see it, not as we wish it to be. His images make people the protagonists, bringing light into the darkness.
ποΈ Ada De Matteo
A geologist and researcher at the University of Pavia. A speleologist since 2012, she is a board member of the La Venta Association and has participated in expeditions in Mexico, the Philippines, Venezuela, and Iceland, contributing to photographic documentation. She has curated exhibitions and collaborated on cave photography projects.
ποΈ Paolo Petrignani
A documentary photographer and professional since 1993. With the La Venta Geographic Association, he has developed expertise in expedition photography, participating in over 15 international missions. He has documented caves, Mexican forests and deserts, underground rivers in South Asia, and glaciers in Patagonia, Iceland, and Antarctica. Since 2011, he has collaborated with National Geographic Italy. He is one of the few photographers to have shot a documentary in the legendary Giant Crystal Cave in Mexico.
ποΈ Salvatore Capasso
A banker, patron, and speleologist, he founded the Matese Speleological Group in 1985. He has always focused on photographic documentation for book publications, particularly related to the underground world of the Matese Massif. One of his most significant contributions was collaborating on the book Caves and Speleology of Campania.
ποΈ Freddy Vergara
A Venezuelan documentary filmmaker, naturalist, and speleologist. He has extensive experience in producing documentaries and photographic reports in the extraordinary Tepui caves. His clients include BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and Terra X. A professional photographer and drone operator, he is committed to environmental conservation and indigenous culture preservation, always using the latest technology in his work.
ποΈ Marco Topani
A highly experienced speleologist, he has conducted major explorations in Italy and abroad, often at great depths, capturing unique images in remote and extreme environments. He has witnessed the evolution of photography from film and slides to digital. Many of his photographs have been published in speleology books and magazines.
